Hungarian and Romanian
Part of the Soviet bloc until 1989, Hungary has made the most successful of transitions into western ways, and became a member of the European Union in 2004. Recently, steady investment in new technology and high quality standards have begun to open up world markets to Hungarian producers. The vineyards of the Carpathian Basin now produce most styles of wine. Wines have been produced in Romania since 7 B.C. Previous links with France, Austria and Germany are all reflected in the styles of wine that are produced by this former Soviet country. For those who are not fond of dry red wines that are high in tannin, we have fruity reds that been known to impress even traditional red wine drinkers.
